RESOLUTION NO. 105

WHEREAS, Since 1919, the State's high school boys basketball finals have been held in the City of Champaign, and since 1963 those tournaments have been held at Champaign's Assembly Hall; WHEREAS, In the minds of many athletes and fans, "Champaign" is synonymous with this important high school sporting event; WHEREAS, To the disappointment of these athletes and fans, the Illinois High School Association recently entered into a three-year contract to relocate the games to the City of Peoria's Civic Center; therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE LEGISLATIVE AUDIT COMMISSION That the Auditor General is directed to conduct a program audit of the Illinois High School Association's decision to relocate the high school boys basketball finals to Peoria; and be it further RESOLVED, That this audit shall include, but not be limited to the following determinations:
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all State and other entities which may have information relevant to this audit shall cooperate fully and promptly with the Office of the Auditor General in the conduct of this audit; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Auditor General commence this audit as soon as possible and report his findings and recommendations no later than July 31, 1996 to the Legislative Audit Commission, the Governor and members of the General Assembly in accordance with the provisions of the Illinois State Auditing Act.Adopted this 14th day of June, 1995.
